Barbie is from the wrong side of the tracks. She wears clothes that are too tight, her reputation proceeds her, and she doesn't care in the least bit. Dylan is an honors student that cares a little too much. He just wants to avoid being bullied like he was in junior high, oh and if his dream-girl Katie would notice him that would be okay too. When Barbie needs a tutor to pass Algebra she offers Dylan a chance to get just what he wants... Katie. But Barbie is a lot more than Dylan bargained for: he can't predict what she's going to do next and it infuriates him just as much as it fascinates him. Barbie has secrets of her own that she's protecting, and even though being Dylan's fake-girlfriend makes her feel something for once, she can't afford to let her guard down now.
My Thoughts:
This book had me at Barbie... I have to admit when I got the email about this blog tour and saw the word Barbie, I was in! I knew it wasn't about the doll, but Barbies were my childhood obsession, so I couldn't help it! Plus how cool is the cover?
The first half of this book rocked! I loved Barbie's whole vibe and Dylan's reactions to her, it was something different. I loved that the main character could be the girl that dresses slutty and has the bad reputation. Usually the slutty girl is the side character/mean girl. Barbie is just a damaged girl who has learned not to care what other people think. All she cares about is keeping her autistic brother Everett safe and keeping her alcoholic mother alive so that child-services don't take her brother away from her. She doesn't like to feel anything because she's already been hurt so much. When Dylan comes into her life, she's completely unprepared to deal with any feelings period.
My favorite part of the book was the chemistry between Dylan and Barbie... it was electric and I could practically feel it jumping off the page. Also Dylan's BFF Third was a highly entertaining part of the book as was the fake-goth girl Roxy. Where this book went south for me was when Dylan started acting douchey. About halfway through until the end I was ready to send him to anger management. He has his reasons (most of the time) for being upset, but it didn't make me want a happy ending for him.
Then there was the ending!!! Holy abrupt! I didn't realize there was going to be a sequel but I'm glad there is because there is no way it can end there!
Overall: This book has awesome potential. I think it has some kinks to be worked out yet... editing stuff, some conversational issues (because there was a serious lack of contractions in convos), etc. But besides that, I thought it was a cool book about a cool girl who was way more than she seemed.

I agree wholeheartedly with this review. I was part of the tour as well and found many issues with the book. It is an awesome novel if you look at it plot-wise, just little issues brought it down. Great review!
